Lars R. Haaheim (1945-2011)

On Tuesday 28 June 2011, Lars Haaheim tragically died whilst on a fishing trip in a fjord near his summer home in Sveio, Norway. Lars was an internationally-renowned influenza scientist and a founder member of the International Society for Influenza and Other Respiratory Viruses (isirv).

 

isirv and NISN Join Together

After discussions over the past year or so, 10th March 2011 saw completion of a formal agreement to bring together the Neuraminidase Inhibitor Susceptibility Network (NISN)and the International Society for Influenza and other Respiratory Virus Diseases (isirv). NISN becomes the first Special Interest Group of isirv and will henceforth be known as the isirv Antiviral Group.

H1N1: Contributions to the Public Scientific Literature from isirv Members

In March and early April 2009, a novel influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged in Mexico and the United States. The virus quickly spread throughout most regions of the world, and on June 11 the World Health Organization declared an influenza pandemic. Correspondingly, there has been an explosion of scientific information about the novel virus and its morbidity, including articles written by isirv members.

The election of Board members took place at AGM during the Options VI conference at 12 noon on Tuesday, 19th June 2007 in Constitutional Hall 106 of the Toronto International Convention Centre.
