Nelson Lee, Head and Endowed Professor, Medical Faculty, Chinese University of Hong Kong

Professor Nelson Lee is the Head and Endowed Professor of Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Consultant of the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong; and Chairman of Infectious Diseases Board, the Hong Kong College of Physicians. As an academic physician, he is leading research, teaching, specialist training and clinical service in infectious diseases in the region. His research interests are on emerging infections, including influenza, RSV, coronavirus, and severe pneumonia in the hospitalized adults. A wide range of translational and cross-disciplinary researches have been conducted, with emphasis on clinical management, transmission and infection control. Professor Lee has published over 260 research articles, book chapters and conference papers, which have received high citations. Many of his works have been referenced in clinical guidelines of international health authorities including CDC US, WHO, IDSA, etc. He has received multiple local and overseas academic awards and major competitive research grants in recognition for his works.

 

Professor Lee is serving in 10 governmental and professional advisory boards commenting on issues related to infectious diseases, and as invited reviewer of numerous high impact medicine and subspecialty journals. He had served in the Scientific Program Committee for the ISIRV- Antiviral Group meeting in 2014. Currently, he is on the Organizing Committee of the upcoming OPTIONS IX meeting.
