Hassan Zaraket  

Dr. Hassan Zaraket is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, the American University of Beirut. He received his Ph.D. from Niigata University in Japan in 2009 after which he joined the WHO Collaborating Center at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA, where he studied the mechanisms underlying the emergence of novel influenza viruses. His lab is currently investigating the epidemiology and evolution of RNA viruses as well as virus-host interactions with a focus on influenza virus. His research also includes the application of viral metagenomics in diagnosis as well as identifying novel antivirals against influenza virus. Dr. Zaraket is a board member of ISIRV and a member of the WHO Pandemic Special studies Working Group. He is an associate editor for BMC Infectious Diseases Journal. His laboratory is part of the Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network and MENA Influenza stake Holders Network.
