S Sullivan 2

Country of Residence: Australia

Sheena Sullivan leads the epidemiology team at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity in Melbourne. She is also a Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne and a member of the Australian National Influenza Surveillance Committee.  She received a PhD in Epidemiology in 2011 from the University of California, Los Angeles, after which she began working on influenza.  Much of this work has focussed on validating the test-negative design for estimation of influenza vaccine effectiveness and more recently SARS-CoV-2.  In addition, she has worked both locally and internationally to estimate the burden of influenza and other respiratory viruses and provides technical support for ongoing surveillance programmes.  She collaborates on several sero-epidemiological studies to characterise responses to influenza and SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination, with a focus on the effects of repeated influenza vaccination.
